Well, hell didn’t freeze over and pigs didn’t fly..
The anti-facebooker is now on facebook. Yeah, yeah, I know
I decided this morning that it rains every Sunday morning, not all day, but just from 7:45 to 9:15am. Where was everyone at the Lululemon run club this morning? We will be changing things up next week and meeting at Rocky Point Pier for a run around the inlet, hopefully no rain.
The 1/2 marathon group and the Intermediate Road and Trail group had fabulous conditions yesterday at Golden Ears Park. The 1/2 group was out for 110 minutes up Corral Trail, Mike Lake Trail and Incline, back down via Switchbacks, Eric Dunning, Mike Lake and Corral Trail. What when up, came down. The Intermediate group followed the same route, just not out as long.
I started back to school again last week, my homework is to run around the track 6 times.
Denial
I denied it the for the entire Wednesday morning Body Camp hike, but for the record it WAS raining, my apologies ladies. Rain or not, we had a great workout, played a little power pole tag and got a glow on our faces that no amount of make-up could provide.
Would you eat that Chicken Caesar Salad if you knew that it would take you 3 hours on the treadmill to work it off?
I am going to say no, but that is just me.
If you tend to eat a couple of meals out a week and you didn’t read the series of articles in last week’s Vancouver Sun, you may want to dig through your recycling. The seven part series addressed restaurant labeling, fast food, is your salad really healthy, kid’s menus, a columnist’s caloric count for the day and government officials respond to the issue of mandatory disclosure of of nutritional information.
So back to my question, would you? I am fortunate (I guess it’s all how you look at it) that I am lactose intolerant. When I order out, I order my meals without butter, mayo, dressing, cheese, I order sushi without mayo and I don’t eat ice cream or whipping cream. I will admit that I do have a few exceptions where the stomach upset is worth it, but it doesn’t happen often.
Some Servers are used to “picky pants” like myself, but some can’t understand how I can eat a salad without dressing, they rack their brains to come up with some kind of dressing for me…oil and vinegar, lemon. I do have an intolerance but I also like the taste of the spring mix, why is that so hard to understand.
It’s not just the calories and fat in our foods that we should be concerned about, we should also concerned about sodium content as well. Given that the recommended adult caloric intake is 2000 calories (that is for a sedentary adult) and the recommended adult intake of sodium is 2400 milligrams, you would be shocked to find out how your Caesar Salad ranks. I hate to pick on Earls, as it is one of my favourite restaurants, but here is the low-down on their Hot Chicken Caesar Salad, as published in the Sun…1120 calories (56% of daily allowance), 76.8 grams of fat (118.15% of daily allowance) and 1531 milligrams of sodium (63.79% of daily allowance). I hope my husband is reading this.
I know, everything in moderation, but definitely food for thought.

Dry runs
Had a great running weekend and the rain held off.
Yesterday, the 1/2 marathon group enjoyed, well didn’t seem to mind once they were done, a 100 minute run down and then up the hills of Whonnock. Lots of mighty white runners out for this one and they stayed white. The Intermediate Road and Trail group also ran together for the first time, looking forward to getting into the trails next week.
Today, the Lululemon Running Club started again for the New Year. We had a great run around Lafarge Lake and then back to the store for a fabulous yoga class. Added my first Spring running purchase to my freshly cleaned and organized shorts/pants drawer today, a checkered white and yellowish running skirt, yes, I said skirt. It may be a month or two before we have the weather to for me to unveil it, and I sure hope I can keep it clean in the trails! Will keep you posted.
I’m baaack
Spent the last 7 days and 7 nights on the Island of Oahu, I ran, I paddle-boarded, I surfed, I swam, I played, I wrote and I napped. Nothing like getting away from it all, especially when the place you go to is sunny and hot and you are with your favourite people.
I am officially on vacation until 7:30pm, so I will enjoy the next few hours of laundry and putting my house back together and then resume my life as “Fitness Instructor Extrodinaire”.

That's me carving the waves!
Happy New Year
Brought the new year in with a 5km, I am not even going to call it a run, more like a shuffle. At the risk of disappointing you, it wasn’t from partying like a rock star either, it was from too much road running, I know poor me.
Wishing everyone a healthy and happy 2010…no regrets
